"Machiavelli's The Prince"

The father of modern political science, he lived in the perfect time to analyze the republican government of Florence (he worked 13 years for the republic as a counselor and diplomat)
In the article " Machiavelli and the Triumph of Princely Government" it talks about the various views on how a prince should be a capable man that can offer assurance to their people and have good control over their government. It connects various points that are viewed throughout the book " The Prince". In the book " The Prince" it says " a prince must avoid things that will either make him hated or contemptible and if he can do this he can continue to carry out his duties (The Prince 57)."  The main idea of the article I feel was to portray to us how a good ruler rules and what it takes to be in control of an entire country. In the article it says "virtue is the indispensable quality which enables a ruler to deflect the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, and obtain glory and fame ( Machiavelli 206)." This quote shows how you had to think as a prince and make certain choices to maintain and keep power.

This article Helped me better Understand Machiavelli's ideas because I feel like it directly connected to the rest of the book we have already read. It makes connections and references to the story " The Prince" throughout the whole article going over the hardships and perseverance it takes to be a good leader. In the article it says " for princes the right kind of education is of crucial importance in shaping the character of the virvirtutis  because there must be close connection between the best education and best political advice (Machiavelli 207).Another quote says " Machiavelli got lots of information from advice-books that two particular groups of the conventional virtues posseted ." These quotes both show how " Machiavelli and the Triumph of princely Government" is connected to  "The Prince and also states the methods they used back then.

I feel like throughout the story I was really drawn into what was happing and all of the new things I learned throughout the book and I would definitely say it is worth the read. The second article we read is also worth reading because it just give you more in depth information on the book "The Prince". When reading the book I would take short breaks because it was hard to follow some of the plot but the more I read the more I understood in all.
