In the article " The Concepts of Mannerism" written by the " The Burlington Magazine Publications" in 1965 it talks about the importants of Mannerism. The meaning of Mannerism to me means a way to express the importance of humanity and Art. In the article it says " We began to realize that the first historians of Mannerism had isolated a single feature of it , its tendency towards Expressionism and indeed lead to some great Masterpieces."(Page 1) Many of these masterpieces went on to live in various museums all across the world for people to see whenever they want. This is just one of the most popular types of Mannerism art which has lead to the many different types of this form of art.

There are also many points that connect Mannerism to different cultures and genres around the world for example. One points that did not appear in Chapter 13 was the fact that " There is intensity of feeling, deeply felt religious emotion, which often joins Mannerism to late gothic art."( Concepts of Mannerism Pg.1) I found this very interesting because I would have never thought that Mannerism art would connect to Gothic art but it is also connects to purely formalistic exercises. Also in the videos we were showed lots of paintings of human civilization which were expressed through everyday activities of royals. But there were also a lot of similarities between the different style of art the represent their modern society.

The reason I selected this article because I felt it really gave me a lot of new information to learn about in this article but also had many things that I did not understand. In the article it says that " in the late sixteenth century almost universally regarded as the period of degeneracy, or a breathing space between the prodigious achievements of the Renaissance was the rebirth of art."(page 3) I find this interesting to find out there was a period in time when this form of art was lost and later brought back. These things all helped me understand what the author was trying to get across in his article.
